Providing a home for the orphaned, abused, neglected and abandoned children of Tijuana
Our Mission
Casa Hogar La Gloria is a home for at-risk and vulnerable children in the La Gloria community of Tijuana, six miles south of the border. We provide food, shelter, medical care, education, social development and Catholic religious formation in a safe, secure and loving environment. As many as thirty children live with us at any one time, typically a dozen or so infants and toddlers and the rest are boys and girls through about age sixteen. Some of the children are orphans, but most come from situations of abuse, neglect, or abandonment.
Hogar Infantil La Gloria was founded in 1975 by dedicated volunteers in partnership with the Augustinian community of Catholic priests and brothers in San Diego. Since then, many hundreds of children have been cared for at our home. The home is funded by a California nonprofit entity, managed by a Mexican nonprofit entity, and regulated by DIF – the Mexican social services agency.
Our Organization
The Order of St. Augustine, a community of Catholic priests and brothers in California, has sponsored the orphanage since its founding 1975, providing a pastoral presence for the home and a watchful eye on the management and operation of the home. Augustinians visit the orphanage frequently, and young college graduates in the nation-wide Augustinian volunteer program help staff the orphanage from time to time.
Casa Hogar La Gloria, A.C., a Mexican nonprofit entity, governed by a dedicated board of Tijuana community leaders, sets policy for the orphanage – in partnership with DIF – and selects the principal staff and oversees the operations of the home and the care of the children.

DIF – the Mexican social services agency – places the children in the home, and provides some staff training and oversight, but does not provide any funding.
Hogar Infantil, Inc., a California nonprofit corporation, governed by a board of Augustinians and committed laypersons, raises the funds necessary to operate the orphanage. It is a 501(c)(3) corporation for IRS purposes and donations are income tax deductible. All of the donations through this web site – or from any other source – are to Hogar Infantil, Inc.
