A Family

History
In the early 1970's Lupita and Guillermo MacFarland began volunteering at the orphanage regularly  with their church group.  At the time, the children were very poorly cared for and the needs were tremendous.  Due to the conditions they found, they filed an official report with the Mexican Government. After an investigation, the government removed the current administration and handed the management of the orphanage over to the MacFarlands.  To help fund and administer the orphanage, they formed a partnership with the Augustinian priests in San Diego .  Eventually, Fr. John Blethen, O.S.A. becameFather John Blethen, OSA involved and served as administrator of the orphanage for many years. Through the efforts of the MacFarlands, John Blethen and the Augustinians, along with many other dedicated volunteers, the conditions were improved and Hogar Infantil became a safe home for abused, abandoned, and neglected children of Tijuana.

Since that time, the facilities have gone through many renovations and new construction over the years, including a major renovati
on project as a result of an electrical fire in the Spring of 1998, and the construction of a new chapel in 2002.

We continue to seek ways to improve the quality of life and opportunities for our children.
